Bruce H. Bowersock is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and studied art at the Maryland Institute and the Schuler School of Fine Art,
and Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. He has studied with some of the most established watercolor artists in the US, such as Robert Wood, Don Andrews, Joe Mayer, Ann Schuler, and Frederick Schuler Briggs. He has worked in the advertising
and graphics arts business for many years, primarily as an illustrator and designer. His paintings and graphic works are in private collections throughout the US.
Bruce moved to the Huntington, West Virginia area in 2000 and has been a member of
the teaching staff at the Huntington Museum since then. There he has taught drawing, life drawing and watercolor painting and, currently, cartoon drawing and design. He has taught several semesters of Drawing I at Marshall University in Huntington, WV
and currently teaches watercolor painting and drawing classes at the local Michaels Arts and Crafts Store as well as AC Moore. Bruce teaches several regional workshops every year and also teaches individuals in his studio.
Bruce has received
juried status in the following: West Virginia Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of West Virginia, Tri State Arts Association, Huntington, WV; Beckley Art Group, Beckley, WV; Huntington Museum of Art, Huntington, WV; Baltimore Watercolor Society,
Signature Member; Ashland Area Art Gallery, Ashland, KY, the Upstairs Gallery, also in Ashland; Founding Member of The Renaissance Gallery in Huntington WV, Fells Point Art Gallery and the Pearl Gallery in Baltimore, MD. He is also an associate member
of the American Society of Aviation Artists.
